Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi has built a reputation around value-driven tech, and the Redmi Watch Move follows that playbook to a tee. Priced at just ₹1,999, it’s an entry-level smartwatch that does the basics well — but not much more.
The Watch Move is incredibly lightweight and comfortable, even during long wear. The 1.83-inch LCD display is large enough for quick glances and swipe gestures, though don’t expect the deep blacks or brightness of an AMOLED. The bezels are fairly thick, and the visuals are utilitarian at best — but that’s acceptable at this price.
The Redmi Watch Move has undergone a size upgrade compared to its previous generations, and it’s hard to miss. The larger footprint gives the watch a stronger wrist presence, but it also makes it feel noticeably chunky (39g) — something that didn’t quite sit well with me personally. On my wrist, which leans on the slimmer side, the watch looked a bit oversized and sat less comfortably than I would’ve liked.

That said, this upsized design may work well for users with average or larger wrists, where the bulk translates into a bolder, more substantial look. It’s very much a matter of wrist size and personal preference.
Visually, the Watch Move maintains a clean and modern aesthetic, and the addition of a metallic crown on the right edge is a nice touch — giving the watch a more premium feel than the price tag might suggest. The plastic build is lightweight and practical, and the matte finish does a decent job of hiding smudges.
The UI is fluid for a budget device. You get a surprisingly snappy interface and smooth animations. It supports basic fitness tracking like step count, heart rate monitoring, sleep tracking, and SpO2 readings. There’s no built-in GPS, so runners relying on precise outdoor tracking will need to carry their phone. But for general users — the kind who want a walk tracker, call notifications, and battery that lasts a week — this watch mostly delivers.
What’s more surprising is the Bluetooth calling support at this price. You can take calls directly from the watch via the built-in speaker and mic — both of which are passable in quiet settings. Notifications from WhatsApp and calls came in without delay, though replying is not an option.
Battery life is respectable — I got nearly 10 days on a full charge with moderate use, including calls, sleep tracking, regular heart rate tracking and occasional workouts. The proprietary charging dock isn’t ideal, but it gets the job done. It’d be great if Xiaomi could toss a type-c port for charging so that it can save the hassle of carrying a separate charger for this one.
Additionally, if you’re looking for deep health metrics or customizations, this watch may feel limited. The watch faces are basic, and the fitness data isn’t exactly Apple Health or Fitbit-level detailed. However, the results I saw during my experience was quite close to what other pricier smartwatches that I compared it with.
Verdict
The Redmi Watch Move isn’t trying to be a flagship killer. It’s trying to be a dependable, no-fuss fitness wearable — and for ₹1,999, it succeeds. If you’re on a budget and want a starter smartwatch that just works, this one’s easy to recommend.
