The last time Bill Gates and Elon Musk had an exchange, per the Microsoft founder, was at the Breakthrough Prize in LA. Gates quips that he said ‘Hi’ to the Tesla boss. The philanthropist billionaire spoke highly of Elon Musk in his recent Bloomberg interview. He mentioned Musk’s EV firm Tesla and praised it for its “huge contribution to drive the car industry towards electric.” Gates dubbed Musk to be “very very smart” who “made contributions within that area, that is super important.” Responding to the interviewer’s query, Gates further added that “Musk talks a lot,” BUT, he continued, “I hope he talks more about climate.” Gates believes that Musk “wouldn’t listen to anybody telling him what to talk about.” “He is unique and he’ll talk whatever he feels like,” Gates remarked. The last statement is truer than it could possibly be. Elon Musk’s posts throughout his Twitter timeline is a testament. Especially the infamous “Pregnant Bill Gates” tweet in April 2022, months before acquiring the platform for a whopping $44 billion. The tweet followed reports of Bill Gates allegedly shorting Tesla stocks.

The billionaire duo have been at odds with their perspective on AI, philanthropy and climate change. Unlike fellow billionaires and techpreneurs, Musk would refrain from courtesy on social media, tweeting like a kindergartener would complain of their dailies to their mum on the way back home, where everyone else is a villain in the story.
